Rock Maple

When Rock Maple is used in building a sound box, it produces a full-bright, open sound,  with a rich ringing tone. It has a beautiful clean clarity of sound, with full ringing overtones and brightness of tone-color. A Maple harp will fill a good-sized room with rich ringing sound without using any amplification.

The color can vary quite a bit, from silver-white, to fiddle-back silver-grey bands of color and movement. To a more varied warm honey golden-silver, with varied grains and figures of lighter and darker streaks of color all mixed together. Rock Maple is a heavier than Walnut or Cherry, but is also much stronger, and thus can be used in thinner pieces,  for structural parts of your harp, thus helping to balance the weight of this wood, with its amazing sound production and volume.

Here are some pictures of the many custom harps I have created over the years, from Rock Maple wood.
